Abstract
On the basis of structural modal analysis, the structural dynamic responses of a 4-cylinder internal combustion engine blook, which are excited by main bearing forces, have been evaluated using finite element method.Through the analysis, the response curves at different points in such regions as crankcase-skirt and cylinder liners are obtained. And then, the correlation between the dynamic response at every point and the structural modal characteristics, and that between the dynamic responses and noise radiation are investigated.Meanwhile, the effects of the structural vibration of engine block on the lubricating performance in liner-piston pairs are also discussed.Thereupon, guidelines are provided for the design of multi-cylinder engines.
