Abstract
Experiments were conducted by manually inoculation to test smut resistance of 48 sugarcane materials including new sugarcane varieties, intermediate materials(strains) and the introduced varieties. The results indicated that there were 41 materials, accounting for 85.4%, were highly resistant or resistant to smut in new planted test, and there were 21 materials, accounting for 43.8%, were highly resistant or resistant to smut in ratoon test. For 58.3% of tested materials smut incidence rate in ratoon test was higher than new planted test.
