Abstract
Objective To study the effects of formoterol(β2AdR agonist) on the differentiation and proliferation of osteoblasts derived from rats stimulated by estrogen. Methods Formoterol in different concentrations was added into the second filter generation osteoblasts medium containing estrogen, which was cultured for 3,6,9 and 12 days, respectively. The alkaline phosphatase(ALP) level of the osteoblasts was examined by PNPP method, the content of the osteocalcin by ELISA and the proliferation rate of osteoblasts by MTT method. Results Formoterol significantly lowered the ALP level and growth rate of osteoblasts, especially at the concentrations of 10-5 and 10-6mol/L.The content of osteocalcin in osteoblasts medium was reduced by formoterol as well.ConclusionFormoterol can inhibit the differentiation and proliferation of osteoblasts deprived from rats stimulated by estrogen significantly.
