Analysis of Temporal and Spatial Distribution of Acid Rain in Liaoning Province during 2008-2009

[Objective] The research aimed to analyze the temporal and spatial distribution of acid rain,in order to lay the foundation for promoting environmental protection and ecological conservation further.[Method] Using mathematical statistics,GIS techniques and probabilistic methods,the temporal and spatial distribution of acid rain in Liaoning Province were analyzed.[Result] The acid rain in 2008 accounted for 57.9% of the province’s regions.The heavy acid rain accounted for 47.4% of the province's regions.Acid precipitation in the province in 2009 the region accounted for 63.2%,expanding 5.3 percentage points than that in 2008.The heavy acid rain region in the province accounted for 26.3%,reducing 21.1 percentage points than that in 2008.The acid rain in the province in 2008 and 2009 had three centers,namely,Dalian,Dandong region and Fuxin region,while the Dalian acid precipitation was most serious and had potential long-term harm.The acid precipitation in these two years mainly distributed in the rainy May-Aug,accounting for 75.0% of acidic precipitation.[Conclusion] The acid rain in Liaoning Province had clear regional and seasonal characters,so various departments should attach great importance and strategies,for maintaining the Earth’s ecological environment and human socio-economic stability.
