Abstract

This paper discusses the lexical semantics of Chinese verbs of contact and surface contact within the frame of Lexical Semantics, and reveal the change of these verbs meaning in the different syntactic environment, and classifies these verbs into the different semantic classes. It explores the regular polysemy of verb meaning, and argues that constructional meaning plays a decisive role in pinning down the verb meaning.
