Investigation and Usability Evaluation of Chestnut Germplasm Resources in Dabie Mountains of Hubei Province

Abstract

Field investigations showed that there are three species of chestnuts,Castanea mollissima,C.seguinii and C.henryi,in Dabie Mountains of Hubei province.There are 18 cultivars of C.mollissima including local and introduced ones.Main morphological and horticultural traits were investigated and analyzed for these germplasms,and their usability was evaluated.The results should be useful to breeders and growers.
