Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy and safety of uvulopalatopharyngoplasty(UPPP) combined with low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation to inferior turbinate in the treatment of severe obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).METHODS Sixty patients with severe OSAHS and inferior turbinate hypertrophy underwent modified UPPP with/without inferior turbinate hypertrophy plasma ablation.Nasal endoscopy and PSG were taken, and ESS,VAS were recorded in all the patients before and 6,12,24 months after operation.RESULTS There was no significant difference in parameters of PSG,ESS and total VAS score between two groups at 6 and 12 months after H-UPPP with/without inferior turbinate hypertrophy plasma ablation. The patients with inferior turbinate were better than the other group in nasal obstruction VAS score and parameters of PSG at24 months. There were no serious complications in all the patients.CONCLUSION H-UPPP combined with inferior turbinate hypertrophy plasma ablation is safe and effective.
