Research progresses on pesticide resistance of Spodoptera litura

Abstract
The cutworm Spodoptera litura( Fabricius) is a polyphagous insect pest of many crops in Asia, and has been reported to develop resistance to various classes of insecticides, including organophosphates,carbamates,pyrethriods and some selected newer chemistry pesticides. In this paper, current situation of resistance,mechanisms of resistance,inheritance of resistance and cross- resistance of S. litura are reviewed,and the integrated control strategies for managing resistance are mentioned.
