Abstract

After treatment of pre-diabetic patients with rosiglitazone (Avandia 4mg/d) for 12 weeks,the levels of fasting glucose(4.9±0.5 vs .6.2±0.7,P0.001) and insulin (7.4±1.9 vs.12.7±2.4,P0.001) were decreased,and endothelium-dependent vasodilation (EDV) (9.2±2.6 vs.7.9±2.5,P0.05) and nitric oxide (NO) (53.2±19.3 vs.43.7±12.5,P0.05) were increased as compared with control group, indicating that rosiglitazone ameliorates endothelial dysfunction probably through NO release.
