Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical results of deep venous insufficiency after using endovenous laser treatment of superficial varicosities. Methods Totally 75 limbs with superficial varicosities underwent endovenous laser treatment with high level ligation and were divided into two groups by the blood reflux times of the first superficial femoral vein valve. The reflux times and scores of modified CEAP before and after surgery were recorded. Results The reflux times below 0.5 s, reductions of reflux times above 0.5 s, and no reductions of the times were 26( 65%), 11(27.5%) and 3(7.5%) in mild group vs 7(20%), 24(68.5) and 4(11.5%)in severe group. The scores of modified clinical-etiological-anatomical-pathophysiological (CEAP) were clearly decreased in all cases. Conclusions Improvement of deep venous insufficiency is evident after using endovenous laser treatment of superficial varicosities. But deep veins reconstruction should be advised in the patients with severe blood reflux of deep femoral vein.
