Abstract

Objective To study the effect of curcumin on proliferation, inhibition, and apoptosis in human melanoma A375 cells. Methods After human melanoma A375 cells were treated with various concentrations of curcumin, the morphological alterations of A375 cells were observed by inverse microscopy. The inhibition of cell proliferation was measured by MTT assay.Apoptosis rate was analyzed by flow cytometry. Results A375 cells grew round and small obviously after being treated with curcumin.Proliferation of A375 cells was significantly inhibited by curcumin in a time-and dose-dependent manner(P0.01).Fluorescent staining can detect the apoptotic cells. Conclusion Curcumin could inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis of human melanoma A375 cells in vitro.
