OPTIMIZATION OF COMPLETION DESIGN FOR HORIZONTAL WELLS IN BOTTOM WATER DRIVE SANDSTONE RESERVOIRS

Abstract

With the wide use of horizontal wells in different types of oil and gas reservoirs,some increasingly concerned problems such as rapid decline in production,fast rising of bottom water,difficulties in water detection and water control etc.were appeared in the bottom water drive reservoirs,which seriously affect the performance and benefits of horizontal wells. The design theory,methods and the application of water control completion optimization for horizontal wells were elaborated based on the comprehensive study in completion method selection,completion parameter optimization,completion productivity evaluation and water control measures. The horizontal well completion optimization software has been developed,and the method of predicting the pressure profile and production profile in horizontal well has also been proposed,which takes into consideration the effects of drilling damage,permeability distribution,well trajectory and wellbore hydraulics. Finally,the water control completion methods for horizontal wells suited for Chinese bottom water reservoirs were put forward.
