Expression of Estrogen,Progesterone and Their Receptors in Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To study the significance and expression of estrogen(estrogen,E),progesterone (progesterone,P) and their receptors ER(estrogen receptor,ER) PR(progesterone receptor,PR) in papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC).Methods Estrogen and progesterone were determined by chemiluminescence in blood of 36 patients with PTC,ER and PR in the specimens were assessed by immunohistochemical assay. Results In 36 cases,estrogen in 77.8%cases and progesterone in 69.4%were more than normal level, The positive rate of ER and PR was 72.2%and 69.4%.The level of estrogen and progesterone was significantly different between control group and PTC,as well as the expression of ER and PR. Conclusion The level of estrogen and progesterone in many patients with PTC is more than norm.The positive rate of ER and PR is detected significantly.PTC is a hormone-dependent tumor.
