CLINICAL RESEARCH ON THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT CONCENTRATIONS OF FLUORIDE VARNISH ON PREVENTION OF CARIES IN DECIDUOUS TEETH

[Objective]To evaluate the effect of three concentrations of fluoride varnish on prevention of caries.[Methods]420 children at the age of 3 to 5 years were divided into four groups:control group,children respectively treated with 0.2%,0.5% and 1% fluoride varnish concentration.Children in experiment group were fluoridized one time for every half a year,continuously for two times,but not any measure was taken to the control group.[Results]No significantly difference was found among the caries prevalence rates and the values of dmft and dmfs in every group before treatment(P﹥0.05) .The newly caries prevalence rates and the values of dmft and dmfs among the experimental groups after one year were significantly decreased when compared with control group,and significantly difference was found between the children treated with 1% fluoride varnish concentration(P﹥0.05) .No significantly difference was found among other groups(P﹥0.05) .[Conclusion]Fluoride varnish is effective in prevention of caries,the effect of fluoride varnish with 1% fluoride is better than that with 0.5% and 0.2% fluoride.
