Abstract
Objective To establish an acute lung injury model by seawater aspiration in rabbits. Methods Fourteen New Zealand rabbits were randomly assigned into CG group(control group, without any treatment)and SG group(seawater group, with lung lobes perfused with seawater),with 7 rabbits in each group. The changes in blood gas analysis, pneodynamic, hemodynamics status and tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α),interleukin 6(IL-6) extracted from serum were monitored at various time points. After 3 hours, lung computer tomography(CT) examination were taken and histopathology were observed for all rabbits of each group. Results Compared with control group,PaO2 and PaCO2 were significantly decreased in seawater group(P0.01).Pneodynamics and hemodynamics were ameliorated. The increase of TNF-α and IL-6 indicated that lung injury was occurred after perfusion with seawater.Obvious edema, alveolar atrophy and inflammatory infiltration were found in model rabbits. Conclusion An acute lung injury model by seawater aspiration in rabbits has been successfully established.
