Abstract

Objective To evaluate the application the diagnostic significance of electron beam computed tomography(EBCT)for coronary artery stenosis. Methods Coronary angiography and intravenous contrast material enhanced electrocardiographically triggered electron beam CT(EBCT)were performed for 80 patients. The coronary arteries were assessed by two doctors who didn't know the result of angiography. Results The sensitivities of EBCT identify proximal stenosed arteries(luminal stenosis ≥50%)were 100% in left main coronary arteries,93% in right coronary arteries, and 90% in left anterior descending arteries and 81% in left circumflex arteries. The sensitivities of EBCT identifying distal stenosed arteries were 67% in right coronary arteries,43% in left anterior descending arteries and 46% in left circum flex arteries(P0.05).Conclusion EBCT results are closely correlated with those of co-ronary angiography.By using intravenous contrast enhancement,EBCT could show clearly the coronary artery and judge the lumen stenosis, especially the severe stenoses inproximal.
