Abstract
Using Research on Chongqing Metropolitan Area Defining and Planning as the main case study,this paper has drawn useful findings from related Economic and Geography theories,carried out case studies across cities such as Paris,Tokyo,Beijing and Shanghai,and integrated with local context through analysis of comprehensive data including directions of urban growth and extension,relativity of urban function,transport integration and collaboration of industries,etc. in order to identify correlations between the central city and its surrounding counties. By doing so,the boundary of Chongqing Metropolitan has been clearly defined to provide practical guidance for future related planning.
