Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of Survivin in the hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and the relationship betwee that with Proliferation and Apoptosis. Methods Seventy histologically verified HCC specimens and their neighboring noncancerous tissues that were obtained.Immunohistochemistry and 10 natural liver tissue were used to detect expressions of PCNA and Survivin.PCNA positive level was used to account PCNA-PI(Proliferation index).TUNEL was employed to examine the apoptosis index of HCC tissues. Results Survivin was detected in 43 of 70 cases. In contrast,7 of 70 in corresponding noncancerous tissues(P0.001),and there is none Survivin positive in 10 natural liver tissue. The expression of Survivin in HCC was associated with tumor size(P=0.011),histologic differentiation (P=0.023) and Portal Vein tumor embolus (P=0.017),In HCC tissues, the average PCNA-PI and the average AI in Survivin expression positive group vs negative group were (56.65±14.95%) vs (33.68%±16.17%) (P0.001),and (1.37±0.67%) vs (2.61±0.97%) (P0.001).The Survival rate of the Survivin negative patients is higher than the positive ones (P0.05).Conclusions Survivin have a high rate of expression in HCC,and may participate in the development of HCC.Survivin may produce a marked effect of restraining HCC cell apoptosis and accelerate proliferation,so as to effect the survival rate of patient.
