Abstract
Fractal model has been used to study soil structure by using mass based soil particle size distribution (PSD) data. The conclusion is:soil structure has clear fractal scaling, the range of soil PSD of the fractal dimension behavior is strictly limited to 0 D 3.There is a clear linear correlation between the fractal dimension and the clay content, when the clay content is higher, the fractal dimension is higher too.The fractal dimension is not only deeply affected by the clay content, but also by the uniformity of texture approximately. There is a linear correlation between the fractal dimension and the index of uniformity (Iu),but the correlation is lower against the relationship between fractal dimension and the clay content.
