Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of propofol and Sevoflurane anesthesia on spatial learning and memory in mice.Methods Newborn 7 day SD Rat,For propofol anesthesia doses of 30 mg/kg body weight were given every 90 min.For gas administration rats were placed into an incubation chamber,which was connected to an anesthesia system for 6h,control animals received injections of glucose(50 g/L) solution.At the beginning of behavioral testing,animals were 7 weeks old.Results From trail day 2-4,latencies of rats and distance of rat in propofol anesthesia group were significantly longer than those in control group(P0.05) whereas sevoflurane based anesthesia showed no significantly differences compare to control group.Conclusion Propofol induced persistant learning and memory damage in newborn rat brains whereas sevoflurane based anesthesia did not.
