The Acceptance and Study on Chu Ci by Qian Chengzhi as an Adherent of the Ming Dynasty

As an adherent of the Ming dynasty,Qian Chengzhi's acceptance and study on Chu Ci can be divided into two periods by his retreat at home in the winter of 1651.The studies on Chu Ci in the first period mainly reflect his acceptance and inheritance of Qu Yuan's spirit of benefiting the public that shows deep concern for the fate of nation and people and great compassion for the time and event,which imbue the poems that record the great changes of that time with Qu Yuan's strong statecraft ideology.After the retreat to the countryside,Qian Chengzhi looks for the spiritual comfort mainly through his commentaries on Qu Yuan's works,expressing his patriotism and pain for the perishing motherland.Qu Gu,as the crystallization of his later studies on Chu Ci after many years of hard work,represents his strong complex as the adherent of the Ming Dynasty,and has the great value in the study on Chu Ci.
