Inducement of Emamectin Benzoate to Micronuclei and Nuclear Anomalies in Erythrocytes of Tadpoles of Two Anuran Species

Abstract

Emamectin Benzoate was selected as the pollutant,and tadpoles of two anuran species: Bufo melanostictus and Bufo gargarizans were chosen to be the experimental animals.Micronuclear test was used to study the inducement of the pesticide to micronuclei and nuclear anomalies in erythrocytes of tadpoles of two species.The results showed that under laboratory conditions,the micronuclei rate and nuclear anomaly rate in erythrocytes of Bufo melanostictus were strongly significantly higher than those of the controls when exposed to 0.02 mg·L-1 Emamectin Benzoate for 24 h.The micronuclei rate and nuclear anomaly rate in erythrocytes of Bufo gargarizans were strongly significantly higher than those of the controls when exposed to 0.01 mg·L-1 Emamectin Benzoate for 48 h.At the certain range of concentration and time,the micronuclei rate and nuclear anomaly rate in erythrocytes of tadpoles increased with increasing Emamectin Benzoate concentrations and treating hours in a dose-dependent manner.Emamectin Benzoate caused significant genetic damage in erythrocytes of two species anuran tadpoles.
