Effect of Green Manure Application on Soil Fertility in Cotton Fields

In this experiment three green manures including Melilotus suaveolens,V.villosa Roth,and Astragalus adsurgens were used to study their biomass,plant nutrient content and the effect of green manure application on soil nutrients in cotton fields.The results showed that biomass and plant nutrient content in the Melilotus suaveolens was the highest in three green manure;application of three green manure in the Green the cotton fields had a certain influence on soil organic matter,available nutrients;the effect of A.adsurgens was the most obvious,organic matter increased by 15.9%,and available nitrogen increased by 28.8%,especially the role of rich phosphorus and potassium in A.adsurgens was even more significant,after the application of green manure in the soil phosphorus and potassium were increased by 62.0% and 78.4%.Therefore A.adsurgens best performed in fertiliting soil,and could be used as the best green manure in intercropping and rotating or inverting in the cotton crop.
