Abstract

It is clarified that in the 1970s,the publication of Grice’s Logic Conversation opened up a new era for pragmatic and the most important theory is Conversational Implicature Theory,whose core principle discussed in this paper is Cooperation Principle(CP for short).CP theory includes four maxims,namely,quantity,quality,relation and manner.The pragmatic effect of discourses with the violation of one of four max-ims is analyzed.
