The position of Qian Xuan in the ancient Chinese painting history

Xian Xuan as a painter loyal to the Song Dynasty refused the appointment by the Yuan Dynasty and absorbed himself in painting instead.The change in his life experience injected vigor into his works.His early works came under the influence of the Imperial Painting Academy of Southern Song Dynasty while his late works broke the fetters of that style.What is worth mentioning is that he wrote poems on his paintings.Qian Xuan as one of the Eight Prominent Poets at the time developed his distinctive style by the integration of poems,calligraphy,painting and seals,which set the pace for the Chinese ancient paintings.
