Abstract
Assuming the two phase fluid of water and air as a variable density fluid, the mathematical model of the air curtain breakwater was developed based on the platform of Fluent software. The continuity equation, the Reynolds average equations and the k-e model were taken as the governing equations, and the VOF method was used to trace the wave surface. The additional source term to model the air curtain was successfully added to the continuity equation by the Macro of UDF.The transmission coefficients obtained at the different air amounts and the wave periods agree well with the experimental data. The effects of air amounts and the wave periods on the performance of the air curtain breakwater were analyzed in this paper.
