Analysis of the Use of Chinese Patent Medicine in 6 Class 3 Grade A Hospitals

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the condition of Chinese patent medicine in different hospitals,in order to promote rational drug use.METHODS:The data of the Chinese patent medicine's consumption sum,varieties in six class 3 grade A hospitals in Henan province from Apr.to Oct.in 2009 was analyzed statistically.The rationality of outpatient prescriptions was evaluated.RESULTS:In six hospitals the Chinese patent medicine was widely used,there were many unreasonable phenomenon:the diagnosis of which 10.3% were non-standard names,19.7% diagnosis and treatment were not consistent,4.0% combination therapy were unreasonable,improper usage and dosage accounted for 38.0%,32.0% treatment were inappropriate,especially in comprehensive hospital.In addition the Chinese patent medicine was chosen according to western medicine diseases identification.CONCLUSIONS:To make rational use of the Chinese patent medicine,should regulate the process of clinical use,enhance the training of TCM knowledge among clinicians,strengthen western medicine diseases identification research,increase the content of package insert.
