Clinical Observation about the Treatment of Tibia and Fibula Fracture with Calf Skin Avulsion by Limited Fix and Vacuum Sealing Drainage

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the effect of limited internal or external fixation combined with vacuum sealing drainage(VSD) in the treatment of tibia and fibula fractures with skin avulsion.Methods:35 cases were studied retrospectively in our hospital from March 2008 to March 2012.19 cases were treated by VSD(VSD group) and 16 cases were treated by compression bandaging with traditional dressing(control group).The survival rate of skin grafts,wound infection rate and average hospital stay were observed.Results:All indexes in the VSD group were better than those in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion:VSD technique has the advantages of improving the survival rate of full-thickness skin graft,reducing infection rate and shortening average hospital stay.As a result,limited internal or external fixation combined with vacuum sealing drainage(VSD) in the treatment of tibia and fibula fractures with skin avulsion is a comparable good method.
