Abstract

The first trial of pelletizing iron ore fines containing fluorine with addition of light burnt(incinerated) dolomite to produce MgO containing pellets was carried out on a 162 m~2 belt type roasting machine. The results showed that the pelletizing performance is improved with addition of dolomite powder. The compression strength of pellets decreases with the increase of MgO content. With same MgO content, the compression strength of the pellets increases with the increase of roasting temperature in a range of 1150-1250 ℃. The compression strength of the pellets decreases while the roasting temperature continues to increase. The pellets were charged in the 2200 m~3 blast furnace at BISG, and expected results were obtained.
