Effect of misoprostol in induction of labor in patients with term pregnancy

Abstract

Objective To study the effect and safety of misoprostol in induction of labor in cases of term pregnancy.Methods One hundred and eighty-four primiparae with indication of induced labour in single fetus,head position,full-term pregnancy without contraindication were selected for this study.All these 184 women with normal term pregnancy were randomly divided into 2 groups:100 cases in observed group were placed with 50μg misoprostol in posterior fornix of their vaginae,and 84 cases in control group were intravenously administrated with oxytocin.Results The successful rate of labor induction was 92% in observed group and 78.6% in control group.There was significant difference between these two groups(P0.05).The delivery course and total stage of labor in observed group were significantly lower than those of control group(P0.05).Conclusion The using of misoprostol for labor induction in women with term pregnancy is safe and effective,and it can be applied in clinics.
