Abstract
Honeypot is an active defense technique using a deception idea. With the recent advances in implementation techniques, the researches on Honeypot have attracted a lot of attention. This paper provides a review on current key techniques in Honeypot together with a survey of applications of honeypots. We introduce the three main implementation methods of a honeypot, and then propose that honeypots can be classified into real-honeypots and simulative-honeypots by how to provide services. At last, the challenges of Honeypot are outlined and some research trends in Honeypot are discussed.
