Abstract
Objective To investigate the difference of As 2O 3 and ATRA alone,as well as their combination in inhibiting HepG2 cells. Methods The antiproliferation activities of As 2O 3 and ATRA on HepG2 were evalua ted by means of MTT assay. The morphological changes of HepG2 were observed by inverted microscope. Results The combination of As 2O 3 and ATRA had an enhanced antiproliferative activity against HepG2.Furthermore, the combination of As 2O 3 and ATRA induced a higher level of apoptosis in HepG2 cell line and inhibition ratio showed positive relationship of concentration time dependence. Conclusion Inorganic arsenical As 2O 3 with ATRA significantly exhibits a synergistic effect on apoptosis induction without major side effects and crossing resistant and increases sensitivity for each other.
