Abstract

The thermal shock behavior of plasma-sprayed ZrO2 coatings was numerically simulated by ANSYAS software. The effect of different metal substrates on the thermal shock behavior of coatings are examined. The stress σr produced by thermal shock resulted in the vertical cracks in the end .The thermal resistance of the coating with Ni-substrate is better than that of the coating with Al-substrate.The finite element computation agree well with the result of experiment.
