Abstract

Objective:To investigate the feasibility and efficacy of purely extended endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach(EEETA) for craniopharyngiomas in the suprasellar region and third ventricle. Methods: A female patient with a craniopharyngioma in the suprasellar region and third ventricle was resected using a purely EEETA.Results: The tumor was resected totally. The follow-up study was carried out for 6 months. The patient had a normal life with compensatory endocrine substitution therapy. Conclusions: EEETA for resection of craniopharyngiomas in the suprasellar region and third ventricle is safe and effect, which is a novel and minimally invasive approach for selected craniopharyngiomas.
