Abstract

A new disease infecting blueberry(Vaccinium) and causing stem canker was investigated in blueberry production area of Liaoning Province. The diseased cane samples with typical symptom were collected from the fields. The fungal isolates were obtained and cultured on media for morphological identification, conduct of Koch's postulates and molecular identification. The results showed that the pathogen was morphologically identified as Fusicoccum aesculi, the anamorph of Botryosphaeria dothidea. The ITS sequence analysis confirmed the results. This is the first report of stem canker caused by Botryosphaeria dothidea on blueberry(Vaccinium) in China.
