Abstract

Objective To prepare a safe and effective meningococcal group A polysaccharide (Ps) conjugate vaccine. Methods The conjugate vaccine was prepared by the carbodimide-mediated covalent con pling of meningococcal group A polysaccharide-AH derivative to tetanus toxoid(TT) BALB/c mice were inject. ed with 10 μg of polysaccharide or conjugate vaccine, and the Ps and TT antibodies in the sera of them were detected by ELISA. Results The conjugate vaccine showed both Ps and TI' antigenicities. No serum Ps anti body at a high level was induced by polysaccharide vaccine, however, both serum Ps and TT antibodies at high levels were induced by the conjugate vaccine. The conjugate vaccine showed also immunological memory. Con clusion The study laid a foundation of further evaluation of the immunological effect of the conjugate vaccine in population.
