Clinical study of serum trace elements concentrations in children with pneumonia

Objective To study serum trace elements concentrations including copper,zinc,iron,magnesium and calcium in children with pneumonia.Methods 50 children suffering from pneumonia were selected as observation group,and 50 healthy children as control group.The serum trace elements concentrations in two groups were tested.Results Serum copper,zinc and calcium concentrations in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group,with statistical difference between the two groups(P0.01);Serum calcium,magnesium,iron,zinc and copper concentrations of severe pneumonia were significantly lower than those of mild pneumonia in the observation group,with statistical difference(P0.01).Conclusions Serum trace elements concentrations existed metabolic disorder in children with pneumonia.Therefore,serum trace elements concentrations in children with pneumonia should be detected and reasonable supplement treatment should be done to facilitate the rapid recovery of the disease.
