Abstract

This paper is an attempt to probe into the relationship between aroma type and quality of tobacco in the different flue-cured tobacco production regions. The volatile aroma components in tobacco leaves from five main flue-cured tobacco production regions are analyzed in three years(1999-2001).The results by classifyi ng some aroma components indecate that products degraded by chromoglast pigment are highest in volatile aroma which account for 85%~96% of total volatile aroma. The aroma type and quality of tobacco are influenced by neoplytadiene and products degraded by caretene. The content of products degraded by cembratrie ndid and furfural are higher in the clear flavour of tobacco in south. The products of aromatic amino acid metabolism and acetypyride are hig her in the enriched flavour of tobacco in north.
