A Study on Wang Zeng's Deeds for the Relations between Song Dynasty and Liao Dynasty

Being possessed of diplomacy, and both literary and martial talents,Wang Zeng was a celebrated states- man in the early period of Northern Song Dynasty.When he was sent on diplomatic mission to Liao Dynasty,he was calm and neither obsequious nor supercilious with provocation,and defended Song's dignity and sanctity.Further- more,Wang's conception of the Hans and other barbarian races was far-sighted.Meanwhile,after returning from Liao,Wang wrote a book named Information about Liao Dynasty,which provided precious information about geog- raphy and journey of Liao and local conditions and customs of national minorities in the north,and it broadened the experience of the people of Song Dynasty.
