Abstract
Objective Use the body posturography device with inclinometer technique for the evaluation of sensory interaction in balance performance. Methods Being a newest kind of static posturography, the body posturography device using inclinometer technique could interfere with the vision and proprioceptive sensory input by closing of the eyes and global-bottomed platform. The postural sway angle obtained by incline-sensor in four various conditions was measured in forty normal subjects to find out the mechanism of sensory interaction occurring in postural balance. Results Firstly, the available sensory information and acquired balance control strategies were different in various subjects; secondly, the balancing function of sensory system in the various conditions was varied, except the major vestibular function; thirdly, compared with the perturbation techniques separately, the combined perturbation technique was not simple linear summation, because the central nervous system could adjust the sensory information inputs in a complicated manner. Conclusion Compared with the former static posturograpy, the body posturography device using inclinometer technique can provide more specifics ensory information and more accurate assessment of the balance of vestibular-spinal system.
