Abstract

At present, the anaerobic digestion of crop straw exist the problems of high energy consumption in pretreatment, material stratified crust and nonuniform mixing.A self-designed compartment anaerobic digestion reactor(CADR) was adopted in this study to treat the corn straw at mesophilic temperature. The biogas production, methane content and change of pH were determined. The results showed that the corn straw could undergo anaerobic digestion after two steps of simple pretreatment of cutting and soaking with biogas slurry and with no C/N adjustment. The biogas production reached 19.94 L·d-1 after 30 days with full loading. The gas production rate of raw material TS was 0.495 m3·kg-1,increased by 30.75% comparing with conventional batch anaerobic digestion. The pH stabled at 6.5~7.2.The reactor could obtain fast start-up,stable operation, high gas production rate for corn straw digestion.
