Abstract

Objective:To explore the effect of group cognitive therapy on elderly with mild cognitive impairment(MCI) in the Community. Methods:Totally 80 elderly community residents with MCI were randomly divided into training groups and control groups. The elderly in control group received routine maintenance of living habits, while the objects in training group had been trained intensively by group cognitive therapy for 6 months,60 minutes a day.The training effects were evaluated by Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA),Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE) and Activity of Daily Living Scale(ADL).Results:The scores of MoCA and MMSE in the training group were statistically higher than those of before training and control group six months later, while the ADL score was lower than before and control group(P0.05).The scores of memory, attention and visuospatial abilities of MoCA in the training group were statistically higher than control group six months later(P0.05).Conclusion:Group cognitive therapy could improve the cognitive ability of MCI.
