Abstract

Objective:To observe the effects and mechanism of IL-6 on apoptosis induced by hydrogen peroxide in alveolar epithelial cells. Methods:A human alveolar epithelial A549 cells was used.MTT assay was used to determine the cell growth and survival rates. The number of apoptosis cells was detected by TUNEL.The expression levels of caspase-3 and caspase-9 proteins were detected by Western blot.Results:IL-6 significantly increased proliferation and decreased apoptosis of A549 cells.Compared with the model group, the expression levels of caspase-3 and caspase-9 proteins were decreased in IL-6-interfered group.Conclusion:IL-6 can inhibit apoptosis of A549 cells induced by hydrogen peroxide. It may be related to the low expression levels of caspase-3 and caspase-9 protein.
