Abstract

Objective: Compared with the Dimercaptosuccinic Acid (DMSA),we studied the effect of Yunnan Green Tea(YGT) on the excretion of lead in lead-exposed mice. Methods: 48 mice were divided into 2 groups. One was non-exposure normal control group, 12 mice and the other 36 mice were exposed to 5.0g/L solution of lead acetate by drinking for 65 days, and then divided the 36 Pb-exposed mice into 3 groups (12 mice per group),one of them was positive control, which was not given any specific detoxification. The other two groups were perfused orally with different liquid. One was perfused with DMSA and the other with YGT for 28 days. After 4 weeks of administration, the contents of lead in thighbone of all mice were examined. Results: It was found that the contents of lead in thighbone were significantly different (P0.01) among the control and differently treated groups. The content of lead in the positive control was the highest and in the same proportion it was regarded as a hundred percent, the lead content in the DMSA group decreased 34%,the lead content of the YGT group decreased 21%,which indicated that YGT could accelerate the excretion of lead in thighbone of mice.
