Abstract

Objective To discuss a new lithotomy and oblique 45° supine position for performing minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Methods 50 patients(23male, 27female) with renal calculi(37 cases) or upper ureteral calculi(13 cases) underwent modified mini-PCNL from January 2011 to April 2012. The patients were placed in lithotomy position on a homemade metal oblique 45° supine position shelf. Stone diameter was(2.6 ±1.8) cm. The operative time, blood loss, stone clearance rate, complications and safety were evaluated retrospectively. Results All surgeries were successfully completed without conversition. The operative time was(110. 8 ±65. 5) min. Intraoperative blood loss was(215. 7 ± 133.2) ml, blood transfusion was needed in 1 patient. The stone clearance rate was 96%(48/50) without pleural or abdominal organ injuries and any other complication. Conclusions Lithotomy and oblique 45° supine position for mini-PCNL is convenient and comfortable.
