Abstract

The textile and clothing industry in China will receive immediate benefits from China's entry into the WTO. However, the industry may also face challenges and crisis. As a typical branch of labor intensive industry, it will probably be restricted by the size of external markets, by the conclusion of industrial upgrading, and by the possible trade limitations imposed by Western countries. Furthermore, the industry also has serious problems due to its own organizational structure. So we must carefully study the WTO agreement, especially the clauses related to textile and clothing products and do our best to create a better condition for the development of this industry. We must also adjust the textile and clothing industry in size and structure, renew the technology and equipment, encourage some enterprises to conduct graduated international production and carry out the famous brand strategy in order to enlarge the recognition of Chinese brands in the international.
