Abstract

Biodiesel was prepared by esterification of acidified soybean oil with methanol, using H2SO4 as catalyst. The effects of methanol/oil mole ratio, catalyst dosage, reaction time, and temperature on the yield were studied. The optimal reaction conditions were obtained by orthogonal experiment: methanol/oil mole ratio 16∶1,catalyst dosage 2%,reaction time 8 h,reaction temperature 70 ℃.Under the optimum conditions, the acid value of biodiesel was decreased from 128 to 5.6,esterification rate reached 95.6%,and the yield rate of biodiesel was 68.0%.
