Abstract

The application-oriented university, deriving from the idea of higher vocational education, differentiates itself from the research-oriented university or the teaching-oriented university. With the popularity of higher education, this new type of school has come into being to nurture diverse talents needed by market. It focuses on the training of applicable talents at undergraduate level to serve the local economic development by combining vocation, skills and knowledge. The application-oriented institution should scientifically position itself as it is to adapt to future development, create ideas compatible with education regularity, and form a system and mechanism which facilitates its characteristics. To realize the above-mentioned goals, the university has to extricate itself the predicament both inside and outside the system. Therefore, to explore the way to run the application-oriented university, it is necessary to learn from the education mode of higher vocational education and experience of normal undergraduate education.
