A RESEARCH ON THE ZONES INFLUENCED BY URBAN SPACE AND THE DIVISION OF URBAN ECONOMIC REGION IN HUAIHAI ECONOMIC ZONE

The authors review the theories related to economic hinterland and analyze the methods of spatial definition.Furthermore,they set up new theory system and new method of definition.The division of urban e-conomic region reflects the regional economic growth in space requirements,breakthroughs in the production of a single element of the regional resources and constraints,and could achieve coordinated development of regional economy.Huaihai economic zone is a developing region in coastal area of east China.Based on the evaluation of regional economy spatial organizing in Huaihai economic zone,according to social and eco-nomic development,the authors insist that it is a necessary to build the regional space economic organization on the basis of urban economic region to complement the regional economic coordination development in Huaihai economic zone.Firstly,the authors review the theories of the urban economic region.Secondly,based on the circle development theory,the center-periphery theory and the spatial interaction theory,this pa-per establishes a comprehensive strenth evaluation system of the cities in Huaihai economic zone with the method of main components analysis.By using mathematical methods,this paper tries to achieve the compre-hensive strength evaluation and grade the 20 cities.According to the city's comprehensive strength index,the authors select 4 first-class cities as central cities,and then evaluate their spatial influence on their neighboring towns.Thirdly,according to the power of space influence,this paper confirms the economic region of Huai-hai economic zone.Based on the economic impact,this paper carries out a comprehensive study of the re-gional characteristics of cities,their conditions,development potentiality,traditional custom,humanistic char-acteristics,then identifies the urban economic zone boundaries.Huaihai economic zone is divided into 6 urban economic regions which are central economic region,northwest economic region,northeast economic region,southeast economic region,southwest economic region and western economic region.
