Abstract
Based on the comprehensive survey of water quality and plankton, the eutrophication status of wetlands can be accurately assessed. In the paper, the Hanshiqiao wetland was chosen as the study case, where 7 sampling sites were selected, and the water quality, phytoplankton and zooplankton were monitored and surveyed. Three methods,i.e.,trophic-state-index based method, phytoplankton based method, and zooplankton based method, were adopted for eutrophication evaluation of the wetland, and the results were compared under the three methods. The following results were obtained. The eutrophication evaluation results under the three methods were highly consistent both spatially and temporally. Spatially, the eutrophication level in the non-core area was lower than that in the core area. Temporally, the wetland was at high eutrophication level during June,July and August while it was at low eutrophication level during October. In addition, the eutrophication levels given by the phytoplankton / zooplankton based methods were a little higher than that given by the trophic-state-index based method, especially for the non-corn area during April and October. The case of Hanshiqiao wetland indicated that the comprehensive results given by the three methods can offer more accurate evaluation of eutrophication of wetlands.
